Billy Bridges in a Canadian Ice Sledge hockeyplayer who competes for Canada. Billy is a two time Olympian and a 5 time world champion. Billy has competed in Torino, and Salt Lake City and been on the national team for 7 years. Billy was a recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee Medal in 2002.
We asked Billy why he joined Team Darfur and this is what he had to say:
“I joined because I realize that so many countries accross the world pay close attention to thier athletes. They respect and listen to the ideas and the opinions that we have to share. And to have this spotlight on us and not take advantage would be such a waste. Athletes have the power to influence a nation and right now our countries need to be influenced to help in any way possible. Word needs to be spread about this massive crisis, and I am lucky enough to be in a position where I can help do that. I encourage any athlete to do the same and to do our part in this world.”
