Bayo Adio is a Nigerian high jumper who attended high school in America and graduated when he was 16. As a student, Bayo played soccer and basketball, however he discovered his true talent for high jumping when cleared 6’4″ on his first try. He received a full scholarship to Northwest Missouri State University and majored Information Systems Management. In college, Bayo came in the top three of every competition. In his second year, he set a personal best of 6’ 9” which won the conference, broke the school record, and ranked him 3rd in the state. He won the conference championship multiple times and qualified for Nationals each year, He received an All-American Award his senior year. At the end of his college career, Adio was ranked 3rd in the US with a personal best of 7’ 2.5”. After graduating, Bayo was invited by Nigeria to compete in the African Games, where he placed 5th. He is now training to join the Nigerian Olympic Team.
Ajoke Odumosu was born in Nigeria. She currently plays for the Univeristy of South Carolina’s Jaguar Track and Field team. She was the 2005 women’s cross country team co-captain at South Carolina. She was NCAA National Champion finalist in 2006. She also won the 2006 Sun Belt Conference Outdoor/Indoor Double competition.
Ajoke recently won a Silver Medal with the Nigerian 4x400m relay and place fifth in the 400m hurdles at the World Junior Championships in Beijing. She will be competing in the 2008 Summer Olympics.
